Indiana University closely follows the Interregional Guidelines for the Evaluation of Distance Education Programs developed by the Council of Regional Accrediting Commissions (C-RAC). IU strives to exemplify the Nine Hallmarks of Quality promulgated by these guidelines. Additionally, IU promotes the Quality Matters framework for distance education and provides Quality Matters training and resources to its distance education instructors.
Indiana University maintains sensitive personal information as part of its operations, including academic records (e.g., GPA), financial aid and student loan data, and identifiers such as Social Security numbers. The University’s privacy program safeguards this information from unauthorized disclosure and informs individuals of their rights, including access to their data and limits on its use. Personal data collected from individuals residing outside of the United States will be processed in the United States. For personal data transfers from the European Economic Area, processing is carried out in accordance with the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which has been recognized by the European Commission as providing an adequate level of protection under Article 45 of the GDPR.
