Strategic managers analyze a business's external and internal environments with the objective of making the business competitive, productive, and profitable. They identify and clarify a business's development needs and objectives, and monitor the business's progress within the competitive marketplace to ensure the business meets important benchmarks.

As a student in the Master of Science in Strategic Management program, you complete 30 credits of course work, including Kelley Connect Week, an intense academic and networking week on the Bloomington campus.

You may take courses in strategic capabilities, strategic thinking, strategic marketing management, operations management, strategic competitive analysis, organizational designs for strategic advantage, strategic management and leadership, international competitive strategy, strategic management of technology and innovation, and much more.

The program also offers you the option of adding an M.B.A. for a dual degree that you can complete in less time than it would take to pursue the M.S. and M.B.A. independently.

The M.S. in Strategic Management sharpens your problem-solving capabilities and analytical expertise, and gives you a deeper understanding of the corporate landscape. When you graduate, you know the functions of a business enterprise. In addition, you have

  • a solid background in selected disciplines and analytical tools.
  • a working knowledge of theories and concepts used for assessing competitive conditions, evaluating corporate capabilities, and identifying means for establishing a competitive advantage.
