Enormous amounts of data are generated every day in a range of areas such as social media, search engines, insurance companies, healthcare organizations, hospitals, defense, retail, and many others.

Those trained to analyze, visualize, and report these data will add great value across a range of sectors.

As a student in the Master of Science in Data Science degree program, you complete 30 hours of graduate credit. You will take courses in computer science, informatics, information science, library science, and statistics.

There are two paths through the degree - a technical path and a decision-maker path - allowing you to easily customize the program to meet your professional goals.

The technical path provides you the skills to create tools to capture and analyze massive amounts of data across a range of organizations. You will learn to develop code that unlocks the power of data.

The decision-maker path will provide you the skills to take massive amounts of data, analyze them, communicate them in ways that are visually engaging and easily understandable, and make decisions for your organization.

Data science is a rapidly expanding field. With a projected shortage of 140,000 to 190,000 people with deep analytical skills, as well as 1.5 million managers and analysts with the know-how to use the analysis of big data to make effective decisions, data science is a rapidly growing, high-paying field.
